For the "Foodies!"

Yes we enjoyed eating in some French restaurants, sidewalk cafes, pastry shops, and the home of our French hosts, Nicole & Gilbert, as well as some of our own special cuisine we prepared for each other while in Masbonson.  Here are a few photos!
It all started with the champagne and meal on the
Air France flight from Chicago to Paris.

Marie served up great cafe/creme and croissants with a cheery smile at the little restaurant "Chez Maman" just next to our hotel.

Our lunch at the open air cafe at the Musee d'Art Moderne de Paris in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower was excellent! A little gem discovered by our dear friend Colleen.

This meal at "La Table des Troys" in Vincennes, not far from our hotel, was absolutely outstanding.  Look at those profiterols Bobbi had for dessert!

This was my first course - smoked duck breast confit, warm goat cheese on toast

The absolute best trio of creme brulee - pistachio, nature(vanilla), and can't remember the third flavor!  They flambeed the sugar at the service table next to where we were sitting.  You can't get any fresher than that!

Added to this delcious meal, was the sweet friendship of Gilles & Francine who rode the fast train 2 1/2 hours from Nancy in Eastern France to have dinner with us.  Gilles treated us all to a kir before dinner, and dessert and wine.  What a sweet sweet time!

Our dear friend Colleen from northern France,  joined us for 2 1/2 days and was a co-travel guide finding great restaurants and sites to enhance our visit.  Oh what dear friends!  Several of us enjoyed lunch behind the famous clock that you see outdoors on the Musee d'Orsay building in a famous restaurant the Colleen had researched and been wanting to try.  We were actually right in front of the clock in an amazing decor!

View from just outside the restaurant at the Musee d'Orsay - overlooking the Seine.

Eating at the "Sabot Rouge" in the artist's square, "Place du Tertre" in the middle of watching artists at work! Again, the weather was PERFECT

Lunch with our dear friend Vahideh at a sidewalk cafe - sharing friendship and food.

French bread and "panache" along with steak/frites....ahhh...

Enjoying French pastries and coffee at the Gare d'Austerlitz heading to Masbonson in rural France.

Tasting those tasty famous French macarons from Laduree, gift from Linda, Barb, Aylssa and Hannah!
(I just had to paint them!)

There is nothing like French hospitality - Gilbert and Nicole were perfect hosts in their home at Masbonson.

Some of us enjoyed a little liquid refreshment from a cafe in the smallest hamlet in the area - it consists of one house - and it is the residence of the cafe owner.  You'll have to ask some of us for the stories of this little stop!

Last of the meals we cooked for each other on our last night in Masbonson - spaghetti cooked by Steve & Deb James.  We ate very well that week.  We are some good cooks!

Our last morning in Paris, Steve and I enjoyed the traditional cafe creme and French bread with their fabulous butter and jam!  ahhhh.....

Our last view of the "donjon" at the Chateau de Vincennes.

Others in the group enjoyed their last breakfast at the hotel.

Every post has to have some flowers.  This is an arrangment from the corner flower shop in Vincennes.  It has the most amazing arrangements - look at these leaves folded and twisted...

So this is a wrap for the food blog.  We shared many more foodie moments, but this is a sampling of the great times we shared.

  1. Now I am totally hungry after looking at all these wonderful pictures. I have tried to decide what my favorite meal was and/or my favorite place to eat...can't be done! One of the most refreshing meals was at the Musee d'Art Moderne. And I absolutely love the macarons painting!!
